Can I travel with my cat?

Yes. Cats are welcome on Pet Air Valet journeys.

Cats must travel in a secure carrier and remain inside the carrier at all times. Please review our Terms & Conditions before you reserve your space.

Cats also need all required travel documentation for the destination. We coordinate document support and can introduce you to a qualified local expert, but approvals are issued by third parties.

The carrier rule

Your cat must:

  • Travel in a secure, well-ventilated carrier
  • Remain inside the carrier for the full journey
  • Stay calm and manageable in a shared cabin environment

A carrier keeps your cat safe, reduces stress, and keeps the cabin calm for everyone.

Choosing a good carrier

A good carrier is:

  • Large enough for your cat to stand, turn, and lie down comfortably
  • Securely closed, with strong zips or latches
  • Well ventilated
  • Easy to carry and place next to you

For comfort, place an absorbent pad inside the carrier and add familiar bedding (as long as it does not block ventilation).

Helping your cat stay calm

Many cats travel best when they can hide and rest.

Before the journey:

  • Leave the carrier out at home so it becomes a familiar object.
  • Add bedding that smells like home.
  • Feed treats in or near the carrier so your cat forms a positive association.
  • Practise short "carrier sessions" at home before you travel.

On the day:

  • Keep the environment calm and predictable.
  • Avoid a large meal right before departure.
  • Offer water normally, then avoid a large drink immediately before boarding.
  • Covering part of the carrier with a light blanket can help reduce visual stimulation, while keeping airflow clear.

If your cat seems stressed

Common stress signs include continuous meowing, panting, drooling, shaking, or frantic movement inside the carrier.

If you notice these signs:

  • Speak softly and minimise handling.
  • Keep the carrier stable and close to you.
  • Avoid opening the carrier in the cabin.
  • Let the crew know early if you need support.

Medication decisions are always between you and your vet. We do not provide veterinary advice. If you are considering any medication, speak with your vet well in advance.

Travel documentation for cats

Document requirements depend on the destination and your cat's travel history. These requirements can include vaccination rules, microchip rules, health certification, and entry approvals.

We can:

  • Share a clear checklist and timeline for the destination
  • Introduce you to a qualified document expert where needed

You remain responsible for booking appointments, gathering records, and submitting applications.
